光柵式傳感器利用光柵形成的莫爾條紋把角位移轉換成光電信號(圖2)。光柵有兩塊,一為固定光柵,另一為裝在表盤軸上的移動光柵。加在承重臺上的被測物通過傳力杠桿系統使表盤軸旋轉,帶動移動光柵轉動,使莫爾條紋也隨之移動。利用光電管、轉換電路和顯示儀表,即可計算出移過的莫爾條紋數量,測出光柵轉動角的大小,從而確定和讀出被測物質量。

又稱傳感元件,是將敏感元件的輸出轉變為便于測量的信號。如電阻應變式稱重傳感器的電阻應變計(或稱電阻應變片),將彈性體的形變轉換為電阻量的變化;電容式稱重傳感器的電容器,將彈性體的位移轉變為電容量的變化。有時某些元件兼有敏感元件和變換元件兩者的職能。如電壓式稱重傳感器的壓電材料,在外載荷的作用下,在發生變形的同時輸出電量。
